Hello! I've been an improv coach and director for over 7 years, and have studied extensively in the UK and the USA.
My background is a little different to most of the NYC community - I'm originally from Bristol (UK), where I was the director of the improv society at the university and was a founder of the improv troupe Degrees of Error, who are currently running "Murder She Didn't Write - The Improvised Murder Mystery Show", a show I helped create. In my time in the UK, I directed a number of shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, including a sold-out run of Night of Noir (an improvised film noir) and WordPlay (the improvised play). My passion is narrative driven, genre-based improvised theatre, but I also love high energy improv focused pieces like 4Track and Cat's Cradle.
As a coach, I tend to bring in theories and exercises from across the pond and combine stuff I learned with Reckless and Parallelogramophonograph (The Hideout) with teachings from The Maydays and other UK groups.
I also helped create shows in London, where I was a member of the troupe The Science Of Living Things, before moving to the USA where I became a member of Insignificant Other at Reckless Theatre (House Team).
I've also directed sketch and one-man shows, and currently run my one-man epic fantasy, Sir Reginald. Check it out at dantitmuss.com
