Hello Sunshines,
Thanks for taking the time to check out my coaching page, I hope that we can work together to help you reach your individual and team improv goals!
A little about me: I am currently a high school teacher in Chelsea where I direct the spring school play every year and coach an improv team made up of teenagers. All told I have been performing improv or sketch comedy since 2008 when I performed for several comedy troupes at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. I have been living in NYC for three years where I completed levels 1-5 at the PIT and help found the indie team Biscuit Out, who I still perform with to this day. Prior to that I lived in Boston for several years where I helped form and direct many indie improv teams, most notably the team Reckless Abandon which was one of the first headlining studio teams in the Studio 40 slot at Improv Boston in Cambridge MA. I have performed comedy in a huge variety of venues, from big festivals and comedy clubs, to bar windows and birthday parties, and everything in between.
As far as my coaching style is concerned I like to think I am an adaptive coach. I want to help your group to reach your goals. Do you want to get better at character and relationship building? Boom! Lets do that. Do you want to get better at finding the game in a scene and escalating? Bang! Lets play. Do you want to workshop a never before seen format and go nuts? Bangorang! Lets do it. Bottom line, I will work to help you get better as a group and help your members get better as performers. If that means going to your shows and giving notes I would be thrilled to do that too.
If my experience and style haven't won you over, here are a few more random facts about me to tip the scales: I love wearing bowties and I wear one every Tuesday. I am not secretly training to become Batman. I have caught 99 Pokemon so far.
Since I am pretty new to the city and I need to build up some street cred here, our first hour together will only cost you some feedback on this site. I hope to hear from you!
