About

Jenn Welch has been an instructor at the PIT since 2015. She was a member of the PIT's house team program for three years before leaving in June 2015 to focus her stand-up career. Since then, she's performed in the New York Comedy Fest, the Memphis Comedy Fest, and has had her work featured in Cosmo, the AV Club, and the Washington Post. Teaching and coaching is a way to stay connected to improv, and to give back to the art form that gave her the skills and the confidence she needed to make that leap.

Jenn's style is influenced by the instructors and coaches who mentored her early on with her indie teams (Agent Cooper, Scoundrels, and CATS! CATS! CATS! CATS! CATS!) and her house teams (Walter and Carpenters) - Cathleen Carr, Natasha Rothwell, Ashley Ward, Geoff Grimwood, Christina Gausas, Kevin Cragg, and Andrew Tisher, to name a few.

Her goal as a coach is to help each individual player find their voice, and then to build the team's voice from there. Her wheelhouse is slow scene work, honest emotional reactions, and deep dives into relationship. She loves playing with silence - her house team Walter often performed silent Harolds. She has experience teaching/performing the harold and the monoscene, and also has built forms from the ground up.
