Jess Kelley-Madera

NYC is beginning to experiment with narrative and dramatic improv! If you’re interested in these styles, I would love to work with you. These are my areas of specialty; I perform an original improv form called Bound, which I developed with the wonderful Adrian Burke. In Bound, we play one intimate relationship over the course of a lifetime. It has taught me so many lessons, including how to build a form, how to make narrative work for you, how to balance humor and depth in an improv show, and many more. I coach as I improvise: with empathy, attention, and laughter. I have experience coaching improv teams and teaching workshops, both independently and with wonderful NYC improviser Richard Krysztoforski. I have also been lucky to work with incredible instructors from around the world. My biggest inspirations are Anders Fors (Sweden/NY), Jason Geary (Australia), and Jill Bernard (Minneapolis, MN). I have studied and performed at Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, Magnet Theater, and Reckless Theatre.
