About

Hey! Rick Andrews here. I teach and perform at Magnet, run and perform on the touring company, and a whole host of other stuff. I've been improvising since 1999, and have been fortunate to study with a bunch of awesome folks including Armando Diaz, Ed Herbstman, Joe Bill, Mark Sutton, Amy Pohler, Ian Roberts, Will Luera, Jill Bernard, and more.

I've taught workshops at improv festivals across the country, including Vancouver International Improv Festival, North Carolina Comedy Arts, Boston Improv Festival, Baltimore Improv Festival, and more. I also co-produces Duofest, an annual festival of improv duos in Philly. I'm also an adjuct professor at Columbia, teaching improv in the MFA acting program.

I love working with duos or ensembles looking to step up their improv. I love working on organic work, patient work, game, silliness, seriousness, you name it. My approach to game and improv in general is one of discovery and play; you can't be thinking about the next move, you've got to be in the moment discovering all that stuff or improv gets less fun real quick. I think it's important to keep improving and challenging yourself but also important to never lose sight of the fun and play of it all.

I teach full time so nights are hard, but I can do day times and some sporadic early weekend times.
