Shawtane Monroe Bowen

Hi!

My name is Shawtane Bowen and I would love to coach your improv team. I have 5 years experience as a performer on UCB's Harold Night and Lloyd. I was also on 3 improv house teams at The PIT.

I am a founding member of Astronomy Club, the first all-black house team at UCB. Our new series, Astronomy Club: The Sketch Show, premieres December 6th on Netflix. It was produced by Kenya Barris (black-ish, Girls Trip) and Dan Powell (Inside Amy Schumer, I Think You Should with Tim Robinson). My Aunt Frances is very proud and took way to many selfies.

As a Visiting Professor, I've taught college level improv courses at NYU and Bennington College located in beautiful Vermont. I’ve also been an improv coach for the UCB/DOE Teen Improv Festival.

I have an MFA in Acting from the American Repertory Theater at Harvard University. I've also studied acting at the Moscow Art Theater School (MXAT) in Russia.

I bring a unique perspective to improv comedy having spent 2 decades in the theater and now 7 years performing improv and sketch. I'm interested in helping you become a better improvisor as well as performing with confidence and freedom.
